 We are thrilled to invite you to participate in our Artists Residency Program at Why Nam Resort in Koh Phangan, Thailand.
Why Nam is known for its inspiring atmosphere, where artists from all disciplines and diverse backgrounds come together to share ideas, collaborate, and create magic.
Immerse yourself in a creative environment surrounded by the powerful beauty of nature. Stay in our handcrafted bungalows, connect with like-minded artists, and explore the magic of three stunning bays, waterfalls, and our delicious plant-based cuisine.

Residency Details
 This unique residency will take place over two weeks in two different seasons:

  1. May to July
  2. Monsoon Season (October to mid-December)

Residency Packages

  • May to July: Accommodation, drinks, and meals from our restaurant (made with fresh, local ingredients) – starting from 2,000 baht per day.
  • Monsoon Season (October to mid-December): Accommodation, drinks, and meals – starting from 1,500 baht per day.

Artists of all backgrounds and disciplines are welcome! Whether you’re a painter, musician, performer, dancer, writer, crafter, woodworker, acrobat, botanist, meditation guide, or (yoga) teacher—the creative gift you share is what matters. We also prioritize sustainability and encourage eco-friendly, upcycled, or recycled art projects to protect the nature around us.
You commit to sharing your art and skills within a creative community. All exchanges between artists in the program should be free—what you give, you also receive. There’s plenty of time and space to work on personal projects, and you can also join Why Nam’s public events like any other guest. You shape your own experience here!
Fill out the form below to apply for the Artist Program. After the vetting process, we’ll let you know if you’re approved. If accepted, you can proceed with booking by contacting our booking team and making your payment to secure your spot.
No, we do not own any art you create, and you are not working for us. Your work is yours to keep, sell, or share. If you’d like to leave something behind, it’s welcome but not required.
You’re welcome to sell your art or offer paid or donation based workshops to guests outside of the program. However, sales are your responsibility—we do not handle transactions or work permits. If we host a party and you want to set up a stall, you can. Please note that Why Nam is a vegan space, so no products with animal ingredients are allowed.
Yes. Since we welcome many art forms, we can’t provide materials for everyone. We do have a shared artist box with some tools, but please don’t rely on it. If you need any specific tool we might already have please ask for it on the application form.
Room upgrades are available upon request, subject to availability and an extra charge. Let us know, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
We prioritize applicants who stay at least two weeks to foster a sense of community. Shorter stays may be considered based on availability after the vetting process. You are free to leave whenever you want, but unless you fully check out and remove your belongings, the daily rate still applies. This special offer is non-refundable after booking. If you want to extend your stay beyond your original booking, that may be possible depending on availability—please discuss additional days with the reception before staying longer.

For our retreat from May to July, we offer an all-inclusive rate of 2,000 THB per day. This package includes comfortable single accommodation and delicious plant-based meals, with a daily meal allowance of up to 1,000 THB, sourced from our diverse restaurant menu.

Yes, for an additional fee of 500baht your partner may join you. But if they want to take part in the program they will have to spend at least 1,500b to join all offers of the program as well.
During May–July, the weather is typically beautiful and our resort hosts more regular events with extra guests, which creates a vibrant, busier environment. In October–mid-December, the experience is cozier and quieter—with potential rains, storms, or even small floods—ideal for those who prefer crafting indoors and working in a more peaceful setting.

After your booking is confirmed, payment must be made before arrival to secure your spot. We accept:

• Credit cards

• Thai bank transfers

• Wise transfers

• Cash (if you’re already in Koh Phangan)

• From Koh Samui: Take the Haad Rin Queen ferry to Haad Rin Pier.

• From Thong Sala or other areas of Koh Phangan: The most convenient route is to take a taxi to Haad Rin Beach.

Once you arrive at Haad Rin:

If you come by ferry, it’s about a 5-minute walk from Haad Rin Pier to Haad Rin Beach.

At Haad Rin Beach, you can find taxi boats that take you directly to Why Nam Beach. Prices vary based on group size and weather conditions.

If the waves are rough, you’ll need to take an off-road taxi truck instead. The truck costs between 3,000–5,000 THB one way, split among passengers. For larger groups (more than 5–6 people), the driver usually charges about 500 THB per person. Truck pickups typically align with the Haad Rin Queen ferry schedule.

For truck bookings, please contact Mr. Lur (+66 94-639-2956) only when you’re sure about your departure time, exact location, and group size.

Accommodation and meals are provided at a discounted rate, making it a unique space for artistic growth.
